How to Launch a Magazine

Before you launch a magazine you need to put in some serious ground work before hand. Starting with a solid idea of what you magazine is about, who it is for and how often it will be published. Different type of publications are published at differing frequencies, this can range from weekly or monthly through to bi-monthly or quarterly. Some academic magazines are only published twice a year. Some issue you may need to consider:

The genre of your magazine and the amount of competition
How many copies you hope to circulate
How to attract advertisers to your magazine
Will you use the services of publishing company or undertake the printing of the magazine yourself?
What is the audience that you are targeting
How will you distribute your magazine to your readers
There are a number of problems you can run into when starting a magazine, and many of these have brought down many publications that really could have taken off. However most of these issues could have been avoided if proper planning had been undertaken from the beginning. If you are consider starting your own magazine then get the right advise from the outset. The more informed you are, the more likely you are to succeed.
